OpenGHC

Shortened name of the Open Greenhouse Control Project, started in 2020 by Max Kazmer while at the College of DuPage. The aim of both the organization and software is to democratize and open up greenhouse control and automation hardware to not only be completely repairable and replaceable, but also customizable enough to work for a 20sqft to 20000 sqft greenhouse. The project was started after his local high school's greenhouse control board was having issues, and the manufacturer would not repair, help, or even reply to our emails. They just wanted customers with issues to buy new, but that just wasn't in the budget, so I taught myself how greenhouse control systems work by reading the manual for that controller, and went “Hey, I can build my own!” and project creep has taken over from there!
